About Dan

Growing up in middle England, I found quiet joy in the what, why, where and when of things - things inside rocks, things that crawl and scurry about and things that twinkle in the night sky. But the intense focus on rote learning in school deterred my curiosity in science.

After graduating from London’s Met Film School in 2011, I worked in the film and television industry, on shows such as Red Dwarf. I have since pivoted to photography, working with clientele such as Tommy Hilfiger and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.

But I have long sought to find a way to marry those early days of heavenly wonder with photography. With Route de la Belle Etoile, my first monograph, I share much with the subjects, in that I chose another path in life, as they mostly did, but later down the road, re-engaged with science, in whatever small yet significant way.
